Doughnut had its first couple of outings as an R&D, first at Nottingham Playhouse in September 2019, after which it transferred to the Arena Theatre Wolverhampton in October 2019. The play negotiates sexuality, grief and sexual health, couching each of these things in the wisdom of pagan mythology and spirituality. I was awarded the inagural East Midlands' In Good Company TAKE OFF Bursary in 2019 as well as an Arts Council England Project Grant to develop my debut play, It Kind of Looks Like a Doughnut. I trained on the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama's MA Acting (Contemporary) programme and the Soho Writers' Lab 17/18. From 2017-2019 I worked predominately as a freelance script reader for Sky, Magic Light Pictures, Playground Entertainment and Chapter One as well as writing and developing my own work. I had the good fortune to begin my career in TV development working as a freelance script reader, a role which led me to spend three months full-time as an inhouse Commissioning Assistant, Reader and Table Read Co-ordinator at Sky Drama. In Summer 2020 I completed a period working as a shadow Script Editor on the Channel 4screenwriting Course 2020 and prior to this I worked at Sky Drama as their inhouse Reader and Commissioning Assistant. I spent two years as the Development Assistant at Three Tables Productions, a London based scripted indie who prioritise diversity and difference and are drawn to audacious methods of storytelling. I've provided in-house development support to Watford & Essex, a brand new Bristol based scripted indie launched by Emma Frost and Matthew Graham and backed by Legendary Global. I have several years' experience supporting a range of UK based indies and major broadcasters and I'm currently on the lookout for my next opportunity. I'm Holly, freelance scripted development professional.
